Several Days Before Your Colonoscopy
Purchase the CLENPIQ with the prescription you were given. Carefully read all of the instructions and information mailed to you by our office. Call us with any questions.
The Day Before Your Colonoscopy
You may have a LIGHT breakfast of non-fibrous type foods (example: white toast and eggs, Cream of Wheat, or low-fiber cereals) NO FRESH FRUITS OR VEGETABLES. Drink as many fluids as possible to keep yourself hydrated. After breakfast, drink only CLEAR LIQUIDS for the remainder of the day (see Clear Liquid list for suggestions). Avoid purple or red dyes and avoid milk products.
The Day Before Your Colonoscopy Around 5:00 PM
Drink the entire contents of the first bottle of CLENPIQ. Next, drink FIVE (5) 8-ounce drinks of clear liquids of your choice taken at your own pace within the next 5 hours. It is extremely important to drink all fluids suggested to ensure that the prep will work and that you will remain hydrated adequately. You may drink more than suggested. If severe bloating, swelling, or stomach pain occurs, delay the second dose until the symptoms resolve.
5-6 Hours Prior to Scheduled Arrival Time for the Exam
Drink the entire contents of the second bottle of CLENPIQ. Next, drink AT LEAST THREE (3) 8-ounce glasses of clear liquids of your choice. YOU MUST DRINK THE LIQUIDS IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE LAST DOSE OF PREP AND BE FINISHED DRINKING BEFORE FOUR (4) HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL TIME. DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING WITHIN THE 4 HOURS PRIOR YOUR ARRIVAL TIME OR YOUR PROCEDURE MAY BE CANCELLED.
The better these instructions are followed, the better the bowel prep works. The quality of the bowel prep dictates how well your physician is able to do your procedure and find and remove small lesions and polyps to prevent colon cancer. This is the most important way to help you get a quality exam. You may also view this video regarding bowel preps.
NO HARD CANDY, GUM, SMOKING, BREATH MINTS, OR ANYTHING BY MOUTH 4 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR PROCEDURE. YOUR PROCEDURE MAY BE CANCELED IF THIS IS NOT FOLLOWED.
