The Day Before Your Colonoscopy
Follow a CLEAR LIQUID diet, such as water, apple juice, white grape juice, white cranberry juice, soda, lime or lemon Jell-O, bouillon, coffee or tea (you may have sugar but no milk) popsicles or flavor ices, for the entire day. Clear or lemon lime Gatorade is helpful in keeping your body fluids balanced during the bowel cleansing. NO SOLID FOODS, MILK, OR MILK PRODUCTS. AVOID RED OR PURPLE DYES.
The Day Before Your Colonoscopy Around 5:00 PM
Drink the entire first bottle of CLENPIQ. Next, drink FIVE (5) 8-ounce drinks of clear liquids of your choice taken at your own pace within the next 5 hours. It is extremely important to drink all fluids suggested to ensure that the prep will work and that you will remain hydrated adequately. You may drink more than suggested. If severe bloating, swelling, or stomach pain occurs, delay the second dose until the symptoms resolve.
5-6 Hours Prior to Your Arrival Time
Drink the entire contents of the second bottle of CLENPIQ. Next, drink AT LEAST THREE (3) 8-ounce glasses of clear liquids of your choice. YOU MUST DRINK THE LIQUIDS IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE LAST DOSE OF PREP AND BE FINISHED DRINKING BEFORE FOUR (4) HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL TIME. DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING WITHIN THE 4 HOURS PRIOR YOUR ARRIVAL TIME OR YOUR PROCEDURE MAY BE CANCALLED.
The better these instructions are followed, the better the bowel prep works. The quality of the bowel prep dictates how well your physician is able to do your procedure and find and remove small lesions and polyps to prevent colon cancer. This is the most important way to help you get a quality exam. You may also view this video regarding bowel preps.
NO HARD CANDY, GUM, SMOKING, BREATH MINTS, OR ANYTHING BY MOUTH 4 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR PROCEDURE. YOUR PROCEDURE MAY BE CANCELED IF THIS IS NOT FOLLOWED.
